CHAPTER 13: What is the correct duration for a workout?

In my 7 years of experience in the fitness world, I've learned that there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer to how long your workout should be. The truth is, the real question you should be asking yourself is: How effective is your workout? The duration of your session can vary greatly depending on your goals, fitness level, and personal preferences. Some individuals may find that a 45-minute to 1-hour workout is all they need, while others may push themselves for longer, going up to 120 minutes, or even two hours.

But, here's the key point: the quality of your workout matters more than the length of time you spend training. Focus should be placed on the intensity and effectiveness of your exercises, not merely ticking the clock. In the beginning, especially if you're newer to fitness, your primary concern should be learning how to perfect your form. Perfecting your body’s technique during each movement lays the foundation for all future progress. When your form is on point, you activate the right muscles, reduce your risk of injury, and allow your body to respond to training more efficiently.

Once you’ve mastered your form, you will start to build those critical muscle-body connections. These connections are what enable you to feel the engagement of the muscles you’re working on with each and every repetition. Over time, these muscle-body connections deepen, and you will notice a profound difference in how you experience each set. It’s like you and your body are speaking the same language—this heightened awareness during your workouts will lead to better engagement and, ultimately, more effective results.

Building these connections typically takes a few months and will vary from person to person. It’s a journey that requires patience, consistency, and an open mind. Once you achieve this deeper understanding of your body, you’ll start to notice your gains more clearly—muscle growth, increased strength, and an overall improvement in your performance. This level of awareness and connection can be incredibly rewarding, not just physically, but mentally as well.

So, remember: the duration of your workout doesn’t determine its success. The effectiveness of your training and the focus you put on form and muscle engagement is what truly matters in the long run. Keep pushing for progress, and your body will reward you with results that matter.

KEEP PUSHING FORWARD !✌
