CHAPTER 23 : Gym intimidation a thing ?
Is Gym Intimidation Real? Absolutely. Let me explain."
You might think that after seven years of consistently hitting the gym, I'd be immune to feeling awkward or out of place. But trust me when I say this—every time I walk into a brand-new gym, by myself, surrounded by unfamiliar faces and a different environment, that uneasiness still creeps in. And that's coming from someone who's been doing this for years.
So imagine how overwhelming it must be for someone stepping into the gym for the very first time. The weights clanking, the mirrors, the seemingly confident lifters who all look like they know exactly what they’re doing—it can be intimidating as hell. And that feeling is completely normal.
If you’re just starting out, here’s my honest advice: try to find a gym buddy. Someone who knows their way around the equipment, who can walk you through proper form, and who can just be there so you don’t feel like you’re navigating it all alone. Having that kind of support, especially in the beginning, can make a huge difference.
Now, if you don’t have anyone to go with, or your schedule just doesn’t line up with someone else’s, don’t let that stop you. Seriously. Another great option is hiring a personal trainer—even for just a month or two. It’s an investment in your confidence, your health, and your future progress. They’ll teach you how to use the equipment properly and build a routine that fits your goals.
But let’s say you don’t have a gym buddy or a trainer—you're walking in solo. That’s okay too. Yes, it’s going to feel awkward at first. Yes, you might feel like all eyes are on you. But they’re not. Most people are focused on themselves. And every time you show up and push through that initial discomfort, you're not just building muscle—you’re building resilience, confidence, and a mindset that says, ‘I can do hard things.’
Don’t let gym intimidation hold you back. Everyone starts somewhere. And the more you show up, the more comfortable and confident you’ll become. That’s a promise.
NEVER GIVE UP!✌
